The University of Georgia lost a transfer commit in just one day, with a quarterback opting to sign on with their program before having a change of heart.
Jayden Maiava, a former UNLV QB, announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Monday night but has apparently changed his mind and is now looking to play for USC.
Maiava – he isn’t related to The Rock (we checked, plus that would be Maivia) – put his name in the portal earlier this month and had visits at both schools. It appears Lincoln Riley made the more intriguing pitch as he is now keen on replacing Caleb Williams under center.
The Hawaiian-born signal-caller joined UNLV as a three-star prospect in 2022 and redshirted his first year before a sensational 2023 season in which he won the starting job en route to a 3,085-yard, 17-touchdown campaign.
He is now set to compete with Miller Moss for the starting job. Moss put on a fantastic performance in USC’s recent bowl game, having started in place of Williams, who is draft-bound, throwing for 372 yards and six touchdowns.
