The Georgia Bulldogs will not be attending the White House after they won the National Championship.
It’s not because they do not like who is in the White House.
Georgia said Tuesday that it wouldn’t visit President Joe Biden because of the June 12 date that was offered to them. President Biden had initially said in February that Georgia would be welcomed at the White House after it went 15-0 during the 2022 season.
“The University of Georgia first received on May 3 an invitation for the Bulldog football team to visit the White House on June 12,” a statement from the school said. “Unfortunately, the date suggested is not feasible given the student-athlete calendar and time of year. However we are appreciative of the invitation and look forward to other opportunities for Georgia teams moving forward.”
The Biden administration was actually planning to honor multiple NCAA championship teams on that day.
The UGA athletic department released a statement.
“Unfortunately, the date suggested (June 12) is not feasible given the student-athlete calendar and time of year,” a spokesperson said, via Seth Emerson. “However, we are appreciative of the invitation and look forward to other opportunities for Georgia teams moving forward.”

This will mark the second time the team will not make it to the White House. After their National Championship win in 2022, the Georgia football team didn’t receive an invite from the Biden administration due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many players from Georgia’s team were taken in April’s NFL draft and are already preparing for their professional careers.
A date before the draft would’ve worked so much better.
The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals over the Boston Celtics in June and visited the White House in January while the Rams never made a White House trip after winning the Super Bowl in February of 2022.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers visited the White House in July of 2021 after winning the Super Bowl that February.
The Bulldogs would have been the first national championship team to visit the White House since the LSU Tigers did so following their 42-25 victory over Clemson in the 2020 national championship if they had accepted the invitation for 2023.
