The NCAA transfer portal for undergraduate players opened on Monday and many top players wasted little time adding their name to it.
Georgia’s quarterback room is getting a little less crowded as one of them is on their way out.
Georgia backup quarterback Brock Vandagriff, a five-star prospect when he signed in 2021, is entering the transfer portal.
“Dawg Nation, Thank you for the unwavering support over the past 3 years. I was able to accomplish a huge goal of mine which is graduating from the University of Georgia,” Vandagriff wrote. “I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, trainers, EQ staff, and professors for helping to shape me into the man I am today. The friendships and relationships built over the past 3 years have played a huge role in my life and will continue to do so down the road.
“I will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility.”
Vandagriff originally committed to play for Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma program but de-committed from the Sooners and was verbally pledged to Georgia.
Vandagriff will have two years of eligibility at his next school, having redshirted in 2021 and played as a backup the past two seasons.

Vandagriff saw action in eight games this season as Carson Beck’s backup. He completed 12 of his 18 pass attempts for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns.
He was unlikely to see much playing time as Georgia also holds commitments from 2024 quarterbacks Dylan Raiola and Ryan Puglisi. Both are enrolling early at Georgia and arrive on Dec. 16 to participate in bowl practices.
Vandagriff is not leaving empty-handed as he is bolting Georgia with a degree, so he will be eligible for the graduate transfer, still leaving a potential one-time transfer waiver if needed.
