Last week, it was reported that Florida freshman quarterback Jalon Jones was being accused of sexual battery that happened just before his decision to enter the transfer portal.
Now, the Gators are about to lose another player after five-star recruit Chris Steele also entered the transfer portal following his displeasure with being roomed with Jalon Jones.
Via GatorSports.com:
“The former five-star recruit has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal. Steele met with UF coach Dan Mullen on Wednesday night and informed him, a source close to the situation told The Sun.
The decision stems from a request Steele made to the staff during his first month on campus, the source said. He asked to be moved to a different dorm because he was uncomfortable rooming with quarterback Jalon Jones, his classmate.
The staff did not plan to move Steele until the summer, which upset Steele and his parents, according to the source.
Then two female students accused Jones of sexual assault in the players’ dorm rooms on April 6. That prompted Steele to seek a transfer.”
On April 6th, two female students formally accused Jones of sexually assaulting them in his dorm room some 30 minutes apart.
The Gators have yet to release a statement on Steele’s impending transfer.

Here’s the alleged story via CBS Sports:
According to the report, Jones and fellow freshmen Jaydon Hill and Chris Steele were at an on-campus residence with the two women on April 6. Jones and one of the women allegedly went to a bedroom and proceeded to have consensual sex. After the two other players entered and quickly left the room, the alleged victim told Jones to stop numerous times. When he did not, she was able to force him off of her. Later that night, the other woman at the residence became upset with a disagreement from earlier in the evening. After briefly consoling the second woman, Jones sexually assaulted her in the kitchen. The two women had rape kits completed at a local hospital, but both declined to press charges.
“We are aware of the incident reports and have followed athletic department and campus protocols,” said Florida spokesman Steve McClain, according to the report.
