The Florida State players and coaching staff were understandably distraught after missing out on the playoffs despite going unbeaten.
The Seminoles went 13-0, winning the ACC Championship on Saturday, but will not be going to the playoffs as they’ve lost out to 12-1 Alabama because of their strength of schedule and the fact that Jordan Travis’ season is over. Michigan, Washington, and Texas are the other three teams headed to the CFP.
Their reaction was caught live on camera this Sunday as ESPN was around for the Selection Show. You can see it right below:
Kirk Heibstreit reckons the committee got the decision right, however.
“That undefeated thing it’s a bunch of BS. Undefeated, to me, means nothing,” Herbstreit said of Florida State being 13-0. “I know winning matters but are they, right now, without Jordan Travis, one of the best four teams?
“I’ve called a lot of these semifinal games and they average 19 points [margin of victory] because we do what’s the right thing? We need to put the right thing to the side and put the best teams in there.”
