Former UCLA men’s basketball player Jalen Hill has tragically lost his life after reportedly going missing in Costa Rica. Details surrounding the cause of Hill’s death are limited.
He was just 22-years-old.
Hill’s family had this to say on Instagram:
“We know Jalen has played a part in the lives of so many people,” the post said. “We also acknowledge the role that so many of you have played in his. As we try to navigate this devastating time in our lives, we ask that you please give us time to grieve”
Hill, a forward and center, joined the Bruins in 2017 and played for three seasons before leaving the team in 2021 due to struggles with anxiety and depression, according to the LA Times.
The former four-star recruit played in 77 games and averaged 6.5 points and 6.4 rebounds per outing while shooting 54.6% from the field.
Back in 2017, Hill made international headlines after becoming embroiled in a shoplifting incident while visiting Hangzhou, China. He was later suspended for the incident along with his teammates LiAngelo Ball and Cody Riley.
