A former offensive lineman for South Carolina has tragically passed away.
Gamecocks assistant coach Shawn Elliott shared the sad news of DJ Park’s death on Sunday night. Elliott was an offensive line coach with the team when Park was a player.
“Saddened to hear about the passing of former Gamecock OL DJ Park. DJ was an awesome individual with a huge heart. You will be missed my friend,” the assistant coach wrote on Twitter/X.
The former OL was 29.
“Some extremely sad news coming out of Columbia, SC tonight as Shawn Elliott announces that former Gamecock OL DJ Park has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight,” one fan account posted.

Park was a star player for Dillon High School in South Carolina and was among the top 20 offensive tackles in the nation when he was recruited. He played for the Gamecocks from 2013 to 2017. He had a brief stint with the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL thereafter.
Park’s former high school coach, Kelvin Roller revealed he had been struggling with health issues in recent times.
