Jamal “Tank” Goodman, a senior at Dixie State University and a former member of the university’s football team has been identified by police as the shooting victim that passed away after allegedly being shot in the closet of his bedroom by his roommate at an apartment complex on Tuesday night.
According to StGeorgeUtah.com, the police arrived and found 25-year-old Goodman with an injury to his chest. Goodman was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center where he later passed away from his injuries.
Goodman’s roommate, Tommy Bradshaw Jr., told police he was at home when his roommate returned about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and “hit Tommy’s bedroom door loudly,” according to a police affidavit.
“Tommy had retrieved a handgun from his closet,” the affidavit says. “Tommy had deactivated the safety, operated the slide, and left his room to seek out the victim. Tommy located the victim in a closet and pointed the gun at him before pulling the trigger and seeing the victim fall to the ground.”
Dixie State Athletics released the following statement on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
