The family of late former Oregon tight end Spencer Webb is questioning Instagram model Kelly Kay’s claim that he is the father of her newborn child.
Kay who gave birth to a son is now firing back at them.
“So I shouldn’t even have to do this right now, but I’m just so tired of the hate and negativity when people just really don’t know what they’re talking about and all you people are literally strangers,” she said in an Instagram Story posted on Friday.
“There’s two sides to every story and there’s a lot of family drama that I shouldn’t even have to bring up. It’s nobody’s business, and I’m not trying to put my dead baby daddy’s family drama out there like that.”
“I have amazing relationships with Spencer’s mom and sisters. I worked with Spencer’s mom and an attorney to get a legal DNA test in order to get Spencer’s name on the birth certificate. … We did that, me and his mom, and Spider did the DNA test.
“Obviously it’s his kid, you can look at him and tell it’s his kid.”
Last week, Webb’s older brother, Cody, issued a statement to the Sacramento Bee saying that their family has hoped Kay would take a DNA test to confirm the baby’s fatherhood, but that she has been “unwilling to compromise.”
Kay made it clear that Cody, who is Webb’s stepbrother on his father’s side, is the one who held up the DNA testing, though Kay says she was able to get it through Webb’s mother.
“Spencer’s brother, who can’t even give a DNA test because it’s not his full brother is trying to come for me,” she said. “That side of the family has been awful to me throughout my pregnancy and throughout this whole process.

“His mom’s side has been amazing and supportive and wonderful. It’s his brother on his dad’s side, who Spencer knocked out when at age 18 when he left him and didn’t like and had issues with, is the one who’s coming for me.”
She also added she would be suing for defamation and getting a protective order.
“I have the DNA test, so stop saying ‘get one.’ It’s there. Spencer’s name is on the birth certificate. I’ll post that s— once it comes in the mail and you guys can literally f— off and find something better to do,” she said.
Webb died in a cliff-diving accident in July 2022 and Kay would announce she was pregnant with his child one month later.
The Oregon Ducks tight end fell and suffered a head injury while visiting western Oregon’s Triangle Lake. Authorities discovered Webb unconscious in a spot “approximately 100 yards down a steep trail” and learned from others at the scene that he had been “recreating in the area” before falling and hitting his head. Webb could not be revived.
It’s unfortunate that he will never meet his child.
