It was around this time last year when the Division 1 Board of Directors approved a name, image and likeness (NIL) policy. This new policy finally allowed all NCAA athletes to be compensated by permitting businesses to use their NIL to sell a product.
Over the past year, a number of college athletes have taken advantage of this new policy by signing big money deals, which were previously not allowed under NCAA rules.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders Football Team are the latest to cash in big time, as it was recently announced that every player on the roster will receive a $25,000 NIL deal.
Although Texas Tech is not widely considered as one of the top football programs in the country, they are still a big-time school that’s a member of the Big 12 and plays in perhaps the most football-crazed state in the nation.
Many were quite impressed with the announcement of this new deal.

After decades of not being able to profit off their hard work, these college athletes are finally getting paid as they deserve to be.
