One teen indicted for the rape in the Louisiana State University student Madison Brooks case was booked this week.
Desmond Carter, 17, who is a football player, was indicted for first and third-degree rape by a grand jury on Feb. 22. He will be tried as an adult. Desmond is one of the four suspects involved in the case of Brooks. Kaivon Washington is also accused of raping Brooks before she was hit by a car and lost her life.
Carter is facing life in prison.
Brooks is said to have left Reggie’s Bar in Tigerland with the suspects when she asked for a ride home. Carter as well as another suspect, Kaivon Washington, are accused of raping her in the rear seats while the other two suspects were in the front seat.
The four suspects then dropped her off at a random location, which led to her being hit by a vehicle. She was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Carter was a member of the Walker High School varsity football team and was seen with a girl wearing the team’s jersey. He is also seen sitting next to Brooks staring at her in the 29-second clip released by the suspect’s lawyers in February 2023.
