Gun violence around the country is not only terrible, but it’s getting even worse among young people who let their emotions take over and they make horrible decisions.
Baltimore High School football player Jeremiah Brogden had just been dismissed by the final school bell at Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School when he suddenly got shot and killed.
Brogden was given CPR on the scene by Baltimore school police officers and transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital by ambulance and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the murder that went down on Friday, around 2:55 p.m., police said.
A Twitter account called “Mervo High School Football” tweeted out:
“Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn the loss of our student-athlete, Jeremiah Brogden. Senseless and unexplainable. Please keep the Mervo staff and students and his family in your prayers.”

“11 News was told kids were walking out of the first Friday of the new school year, when shots rang out. Police said a student from a different Baltimore school approached Brogden during dismissal.
According to police, that incident turned into a heated encounter and the suspect pulled out a gun and then shot Brogden multiple times. The school police chased the suspect, arrested the teenager and then found the weapon used nearby.”
The 17-year-old suspect is facing charges of first-degree murder, according to authorities. He is being held without bail at the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services facility, according to authorities.
Following the arrest announcement, Mayor Brandon Scott said on Twitter that he was saddened by the death of Brogden.
