This is something you don’t see everyday.
The Alabama Class 7A state championship game between Thompson and Auburn on Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa had the most insane finish that has ever been seen on a football field. After turning the ball over on downs with 1:18 to play trailing by nine, 28–19, Thompson looked as if their night was over.
As Auburn prepared to punt the ball away, Thompson players could be seen consoling each other on the sidelines as the clock ticked away.
But then, Thompson’s Korbyn Williams blocked the punt and returned it for a touchdown.
With 18 seconds left, Thompson needed to recover the onside kick and score again as they trailed 28-26. Of course, Thompson ended up recovering the onside attempt at the 46-yard line.

Thompson would get a bunch of help in the form of two pass interference penalties. The flags advanced the ball to the 18-yard line of the Tigers, giving Thompson kicker Trevor Hardy a chance to kick a 35-yard field goal for the win.
He knocked it down, giving Thompson a 29–28 victory.
That’s 10 points scored in 18 seconds.
