The family of 2022 quarterback recruit Robbie Roper announced tragic news that the youngster passed away.
“Hey guys it’s the Roper family. We just wanted to update everyone on Robbie. Robbie just passed,” the family wrote. “He was the biggest joy to our family. We are proud of the young man he has become. He will be missed by his friends and family dearly. We are still working on funeral arrangements, and will update everyone on the date, time, and location.”
His death comes following reported complications during a procedure, but nothing has been confirmed on how it happened.
Roper had interest from Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, TCU, Michigan, North Carolina and Massachusetts but had not committed anywhere.
Head football coach Chris Prewett said the Roswell community is grieving.
“Heartbroken is a gross understatement. Robbie was a fantastic young man and a fighter all the way thru!! You will be missed in so many ways!!” the coach posted on Twitter.

The 6-foot-4 senior had 3,010 passing yards and 37 touchdowns en route to being named Region 5-7A Offensive Player of the Year in his final season at Roswell.
