A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life after a horrific shooting behind Roxborough High School in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia.
There was a scrimmage between three Philadelphia high school football teams that had just concluded when two gunmen allegedly fired 70 rounds as they ambushed a group of players. Police confirmed to NBC Philadelphia that five players were shot and one was killed.
The 14-year-old boy was hit at least once in the chest and rushed to Einstein Medical Center where he died a short time later, police said.

“The victim was on the Roxborough football team, but Philadelphia School District spokesperson Christina Clark said he attended nearby Saul High School, a magnet school that focuses on agricultural sciences.
Another 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg and was listed in stable condition at a local hospital, according to police.
A third student, 17, was struck four times throughout his body, authorities said, and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.”

According to police, a green Ford Explorer drove up and fired multiple shots at the victims and then fled the scene. Police say there were at least two shooters.
“The biggest piece of this is that there is a 14-year-old that is doing again what students do, have football games at the end of the day,” Philadelphia First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford said. “One of the things we encourage our kids to do. And for him not to make it home so there’s a family today — again not taking anything away from the other families — but there’s one family that their son won’t make it home today and that is the big part of this.”
Another 14-year-old boy was shot once in his left thigh.
A 17-year-old boy was shot once in his right arm and three times in his left leg.
The fourth victim was said to be stable.
A fifth victim was treated on scene for a graze wound.
