Well, the excitement of Matt Rhule’s arrival at Nebraska sure waned quickly.
Following a tough 13-10 loss to Minnesota last Saturday, the Cornhuskers were crushed 36-14 on the road by their longtime rivals in the Colorado Buffaloes, who are now coached by Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
Nebraska turned the ball over four times, and the passing game especially struggled with just 11 total completions for 119 yards. Rhule used three different QBs in Jeff Sims, Heinrich Haarberg and Chubba Purdy.
Nebraska’s ugly defeat led to plenty of calls on X (formerly known as “Twitter”) for the Cornhuskers to fire their new head coach.

Rhule’s success as the head coach of Baylor and Temple led to him receiving a seven-year deal worth $60 million from the NFL’s Carolina Panthers in 2020. Rhule was fired after a 1-4 start last year, ending his tenure with the Panthers at 11-27.
