Football fans are ripping Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders following a strange comment in an end-of-season interview with People.
Sanders has always enjoyed the national spotlight, dating back to his days as a two-way star athlete in the NFL and MLB. But Sanders, who received non-stop attention throughout his first year with the Buffaloes, claims he would have preferred the opposite this season.
“You always wish that you had a little more privacy,” Sanders said in an interview with Natasha Dye of People, “but the same thing that makes you shine will show your blemishes.
“So, you’ve got to take the good with the bad. You can’t just want everyone there when the hype machine is rolling, you have to understand there’s another side to this.”
Fans teed off on Sanders for the comments, pointing out that the Pro Football Hall of Famer went great lengths to put the spotlight on his club this year.

As some folks pointed out, perhaps Sanders wouldn’t have minded the extra publicity if the Buffaloes stayed on the winning track. After a perfect 3-0 start, Colorado finished 1-8 and lost their final six games altogether.
Nonetheless, Sanders’ first season with the Buffaloes was somewhat a success considering that he inherited a one-win team a year ago. The finish was disappointing, but this team still quadrupled last year’s win total and could have finished better if two-way star Travis Hunter didn’t miss time to injury.
Sanders came to Colorado last year following a successful three-year run at Jackson State, where he led the team to consecutive SWAC Championships in 2021 and 2022.
“Prime Time” now has nine months to prepare his team for his second season, and you know he won’t have a problem recruiting new talents to next year’s roster.
