UCF was ever so close to the biggest shock of the tournament when they fell 77-76, just one basket short of eliminating the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils in the second round.
The entire team was visibly crushed soon after Aubrey Dawkins’s putback attempt rimmed out and time expired.
“I know it’s going to hurt,” Dawkins says. “It’s going to hurt for a while. I’ve been here before with the same thing. But we’re proud of you guys, we’re proud of the effort and the energy that you gave us all year long.”
