Jarvis Brownlee Jr. is going to see if the grass is greener on the other side of another football program. The Florida State cornerback has entered his name enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to 247.
This news comes after he allegedly held out from spring practice over NIL issues.
Brownlee took to social media to release a statement about his decision.
“First and foremost I want to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game I love,” Brownlee wrote. “During my time at FSU, I have played alongside the best of teammates and cultivated lifelong friendships. That will continue to be a part of my life and push me to be the best version of myself day in and day out.
“Also, I would like to thank Florida State University, the entire coaching staff for the opportunity and experience of being a Nole. With that being said I decided to enter the transfer portal. I feel that this is what is best for me and the goals and aspirations that I would like to accomplish. Lastly, I want to thank my family for supporting me throughout this tough decision. I am looking forward to this new journey, but I will always appreciate my time here at Florida State University.”
It was just a few weeks ago when multiple reports stated that Brownlee had a deal for his Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) but that the contract was temporarily void after he failed to meet the minimum requirements. He was said to be holding out until he received his money for the deal.
