Tough news coming out of Florida this week as one player on the football team will likely never play the game he loves again.
Gage Wilcox, a tight end for the program, reportedly suffered a significant injury in training camp. According to head coach Billy Napier, the injury will at least end his season and could be the end of his football career.
“He’s injured. It’s going to be a season, or really a career-ending injury for him,” Napier said via Gators Online. “Very unfortunate for Gage but certainly, while he was here with us he did a fantastic job. He’s certainly tough.”
A former four-star prospect, Wilcox appeared in two games as a true freshman last year and did not catch a pass.
He was expected to contribute this fall as the Gators’ were already thin at tight end.
