Well, there’s certainly no love lost between the Tennessee Volunteers and Florida Gators.
In the waning seconds of the Gators’ 29-16 win over the Volunteers, Florida quarterback Graham Mertz took a knee to run out the clock. However, tempers quickly flared between the two clubs, and an all-out brawl quickly ensued:
The Volunteers entered this game as the No. 11 ranked team in the nation, but their offense struggled to get going against the Florida defense. Tennessee mustered just 16 points and had no answers for a Florida defense that racked up 183 rushing and three rushing scores on 43 carries.
Mertz completed 19 of 24 pass attempts for 166 yards and a touchdown. Eugene Watson III led the team with six receptions for 44 yards. Teammate Ricky Pearsall also had a productive day with six receptions for 43 yards.
The Gators will try to improve to 3-1 on the season when they host the Charlotte 49ers next Saturday.
