A former football player is understood to have died heroically as he saved a woman’s life during the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans.
Over a dozen people were killed when a man drove a truck through a large crowd on Bourbon Street at the turn of the year. One of the victims, identified as Tiger Bech, was a former Princeton football player who’s also the brother of a TCU wide receiver.
Footage reportedly reviewed by the FBI showed Bech shoving a woman out of the path of the vehicle.
The Bureau considers the incident a terrorist attack, with the driver of the van subsequently engaging police in a shootout, getting shot and killed.
Tiger, whose real name is Martin Bech, grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Princeton, where he was an All-Ivy honor athlete for his role as a punt returner and saw some snaps at wide receiver.

Tiger Bech Was Able To FaceTime With His Brother Before He Died
Tiger Bech comes from a football family, with two of his uncles playing at LSU while his younger brother Jack is a wideout for the Horned Frogs.
Jack spoke to KLFY about Tiger’s death last week, revealing he had gone to dinner with his best friend before heading to Bourbon Street. He also said he was able to FaceTime his older sibling while he was on life support at the hospital, while his parents were able to make it to his bedside while he fought for his life.
This week, Jack branded his brother a “true hero,” sharing a screenshot of a text he received from someone believed to be the person Tiger was with on Bourbon Street who told him about the footage showing the former punter saving a woman’s life by pushing her out of the way.
