A fake Jalen Milroe quote completely fooled fans on social media, as well as two major websites, today.
Nick Saban’s departure likely has multiple Alabama players thinking about their futures – though he has since been replaced by Kalen DeBoer – but their starting quarterback isn’t one of them.
Wide receiver Isaiah Bond announced his decision to enter the portal on Friday, so many fans thought a post appearing to be from Jalen Milroe was real after X user @BigOrangePunch shared a graphic bearing a fake announcement appearing to be from the Crimson Tide QB.
At the time, the user had their name up as “Jalen Milroe.”
While many fans realized the post wasn’t real, several of them thought it was legitimate. Even the likes of Yahoo Sports and USA Today embarrassingly published articles claiming the QB had entered the portal.

Yahoo has since deleted its story while USA Today has offered a correction.
“Correction and Clarifications: An earlier version of this story erroneously stated Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe intends to enter the transfer portal,” it reads.
“Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe does not intend to enter the transfer portal.
“After coach Kalen DeBoer was hired by the school Friday to replace Nick Saban, Milroe announced, “I’m staying,” according to multiple outlets on the scene.”
