Texas quarterback Arch Manning has reportedly opted out of ‘College Football 25’ ahead of the game’s release.
NCAA football players have been given the opportunity to opt into the game, which will earn them $600 and a free copy of the title.
So far, over 10,000 players have opted in, with an EA Sports spokesperson telling ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg as much. Texas’ starting QB Quinn Ewers is one of them, however, Yahoo Sports’ Anwar Richardson has reported that Manning is opting out.
“I’m told Arch is focused on playing football on the field,” Richardson reported.
This is confusing, to say the least. How does a player’s likeness in a video game affect his football?
Fans on social media don’t get it either.

“Does he think he actually gets transported into the game?” one asked. “Otherwise this reasoning makes no sense.”
You can see some more reactions here:
Maybe Manning is afraid that he’d be too tempted to play the game as himself to focus on his football. Or maybe he’s worried Ewers might get mad because he’d bench him?
