Everyone has the same thoughts about Monday night’s Iowa vs. LSU March Madness basketball showdown.
The two teams will face off in an Elite Eight matchup set for tonight in what will be a rematch of last year’s national title game. While the fixture will only determine which team will go to the Final Four, it has been touted as the biggest women’s basketball game in history.
That’s saying a whole lot given how long women’s basketball has been around. Still, it features two of the best teams in women’s college basketball, with one the defending champs and the other the runner-up. It also boasts the two most popular players in college sports – Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark – and is likely to break a few records where ratings are concerned.
Many fans consider the upcoming game the biggest of its kind.
“The Iowa vs LSU rematch tonight is the biggest game in the history of women’s sports,” one fan wrote.
“In the biggest women’s basketball game of all time.. I’ll ride with the goat,” another wrote.

“I think one of the biggest games in the history of women’s sports is tonight,” said another.

Caitlin Clark Could Cement Her NCAA Legacy By Coming Out On Top Of Iowa vs. LSU
Both Reese and Clark are expected to head to the WNBA this year, but only the former is a champion. Clark, who became the NCAA’s highest-ever scorer this season, would do well to go out on a high after losing in the last Iowa vs. LSU matchup.
“Anytime you have a chance to go up against somebody you lost to, it brings a little more energy,” Clark said on Saturday after scoring 29 points and adding 15 assists in a win over the Colorado Buffaloes (via ABC). “I think overall, it’s just going to be a really great game for women’s basketball.
“I speak for everybody on our team: We did not come into this game knowing LSU had won and were like, ‘Oh, we want to win to play LSU. We came into this game … focused on beating Colorado, because Colorado is a really good basketball team.“
Will tonight’s game be one for the ages? We certainly hope it lives up to the hype.
