Notre Dame and Georgia players, as well as thousands inside the Superdome, paid their respects to the victims of the NOLA terror attack before the Sugar Bowl, but the moment of silence was missed by ESPN.
Millions assumed the network would show the moment of silence after the first day of 2025 started so tragically.
Unfortunately, it was not shown, and it has sparked major outrage among thousands online. Not to mention, the network neglected to show the National Anthem.
Here was the #SugarBowl National Anthem that @Espn didn’t think you needed to hear after a terrorist attack in our city. pic.twitter.com/jqHrAnYAEu

Many fans only learned about the tribute and Anthem through shared posts from attendees rather than the network’s coverage.
ESPN responded by uploading the video to its social platforms, but it simply could not make up for its blunder of not showing it live when it happened.
Here is how many fans responded in the comment section:

Will ESPN Respond To The Backlash?
The 2025 Sugar Bowl was delayed until Thursday after New Orleans had to deal with a terroristic attack that happened on Bourbon Street that claimed the lives of 15 people and injured as many as 30 others.
A tribute was paid at the Superdome before the highly anticipated Sugar Bowl between Notre Dame and Georgia.
Everyone at home never got to see it since ESPN decided they wouldn’t show it.
When asked for a comment on the situation by the NY Post, ESPN declined to give a comment.
