Fans reckon ESPN employees have been asked to change their public stances on Michigan after initially defending the Big Ten program amid sign-stealing allegations.
The Wolverines are under fire by dint of the NCAA opening an investigation following accusations of the university scouting upcoming opponents by recording their signals. One staffer has already attracted a suspension, having been identified as the mastermind behind the scheme, while problems continue to mount on multiple other fronts.
ESPN’s Paul Finebaum had originally defended head coach Jim Harbaugh when the news broke around two weeks ago but, on Wednesday morning claimed that speaking out in defense of the former 49ers HC was “the biggest mistake of my professional career.”
He went on to say that the Big Ten should do something about the accusations, though the NCAA seems to have it handled.
Stephen A. Smith was also critical of Michigan and called for the conference to use a “heavy hand” when dealing with them.
The change in atmosphere was not lost on fans, and you can see some of their reactions below:

The NCAA’s investigation is still ongoing. The outcome will be a very interesting one as it could prove to be a deciding factor in what becomes of Harbaugh’s coaching career.
