In just a little over a month, the 2019 college football season will begin with a number of schools hoping their program qualifies for the 4-team playoff to fight for a chance to win the National Title.
Last week, ESPN updated its FPI projections in anticipation of the coming year.
Here’s how it explained via ESPN:
“The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.”
Out of the entire FBS, the FPI only predicts four teams will win 10 or more games. Those teams are Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Michigan.
Here are the projected computer records for the top-20 teams.

If these projections turn out to be true, we are in one hell of a ride for some epic playoff matchups, with Clemson, Alabama and Oklahoma all returning from the 2018 season.
Michigan has never reached the College Football Playoff.
