Last Saturday, Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal lost his mind after a tremendous play.
Ducks quarterback Anthony Brown completed a pass to Kris Hutson for a big gain. He soured the moment by spinning the ball, crossing his arms and looking at the Arizona defender. Refs wasted no time throwing a flag and penalizing him for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Mario Cristobal stormed onto the field to get Hutson’s attention before drawing him to the sideline. It only got worse from there as he tossed his headset to the ground and proceeded to get in the face of his receiver.
ESPN’s Rod Gilmore called Cristobal’s actions a “bit too far” and implied what the coach was racist.
“Moreover, the image of a 51 year old White man berating a young Black man so publicly rubs a lot of us the wrong way,” Gilmore said. “Especially w/all the racial injustice. Bad optics. U can deliver the lesson w/o flexing your power & control. It did not make Black parents I know happy.”

Doug Gottlieb fired back at Gilmore on Twitter.
