Eli Drinkwitz really could’ve kept his comments to himself.
The University of Missouri football coach has now joined a growing list of college coaches complaining about the amount of money some student-athletes are able to make now.
Now that student-athletes can profit from the use of their name, image, and like — or NIL, many of them are making decisions to go to colleges where they can cash in the most. LSU basketball star Angel Reese even stated she is in no rush to leave college since she is making more now than professional players in the WNBA.
Speaking on Tuesday morning, Drinkwitz took exception to the fact that these athletes make more than doctors, including his pediatrician brother-in-law.
“He saves lives,” Drinkwitz added.
His brother saving lives is commendable, but it’s all about supply and demand. Thousands of people around the country are willing to shell out thousands of their own money to watch athletes, but apparel, and everything in between, which is why athletes are making so much.

Nobody is showing up to a doctor’s office to watch procedures while purchasing $15 beer & $17 hot dogs.
For the 2022 season, Drinkwitz made $4 million. Last November, he signed a new contract increasing his salary by 50% to $6 million in 2023. Just maybe he should throw a million towards his brother’s bank account since he feels so much for what he does.
On top of that, he is making all of this money and has yet to deliver a winning record during his time in Missouri. Maybe he should focus on that.
