EA Sports is reportedly set to leave a popular gesture out of its inbound ‘College Football 25’ video game.
The news should be great for the Texas Longhorns and their fans, but everyone else will probably fume over it.
According to The Athletic’s Chris Vannini, the “Horns Down” hand signal will not be included in the game. Players will only be able to flash their own team’s signals. Of course, the Longhorns don’t use it, as it’s a gesture used to mock them, so it’s not going to be available.
“I’ve been told that Horns Down will NOT be in the video game,” Vannini reported this week. “Only hand signals for your own team.”
As expected, non-Texas fans are unhappy with the decision and have described it as cowardly, suggesting the Longhorns influenced the move.

“Texas still crying about “Horns down” they went to EA to stop it,” one wrote.
“choosing to throw two horns down after a big play and getting your player ejected would be comedy,” said another.
“No Horns Down and no Mascot Mode? What a trash game,” a third commented.
“That sucks,” a user remarked. “I like teams to think about Texas even when they’re not playing Texas like aggys do.”
“Texas is the softest program of all time 😂 wonder how much they paid to keep it out of the game,” another joked.
The NCAA isn’t a “Horns Down” proponent either and hands out penalties to any player who performs it during games or sporting events.
Would it have been fun if you could do it in ‘College Football 25’? Probably. But it looks like it isn’t going to happen.
