The Alabama Crimson Tide has secured an exciting commit from the son of an NFL cornerback who was picked in the first round.
Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., the son of former Cincinnati Bengals star Dre Kirkpatrick is set to play under Nick Saban as he looks to follow in his father’s footsteps.
The senior Kirkpatrick was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2012, going 17th overall. The 33-year-old remains a free agent, having last played for the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. He committed to playing for Saban 14 years ago and was a member of the Alabama roster from 2009-2011.
Kirkpatrick was a two-time All-SEC member during his time with the program and helped them win two national championships.
This newer development is a significant one as it marks Saban landing his first legacy player for 2024.
Dre Jr., a safety who hails from Gadsen, Alabama, opted to join the Tide amid interest from other top programs, including Arkansas, Auburn, and Missouri. The moment was a very emotional one for his father.
