Additional details have emerged following news of Deion Sanders’ split from longtime girlfriend Tracey Edmonds.
It’s been an eventful last few weeks for Coach Prime, who has seen members of staff leave the Colorado Buffaloes, with multiple players also de-committing, while others have entered the transfer portal. On a positive note, the former NFL cornerback has been named the Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year.
In even wilder news, Trace Edmonds, whom he shared a relationship with for over a decade, has announced that they’re going their separate ways.
“To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love…We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS and have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared together,” she posted to Instagram on Sunday.
PEOPLE has since shed some light on the relationship between Prime and Tracey, noting that they met at a movie premiere party commemorating a film the latter had produced back in 2012. It’s said that he later reached out to her to set up a meeting to discuss a reality series involving his family and they hit it off.
“I started off thinking I was just going to produce [Deion’s Family Playbook],” Edmonds was quoted as saying. “But as I started working with Deion on the show, we grew quite fond of each other and ended up dating.”

It appears the couple found it difficult to spend quality time together given their busy schedules.
“Tracey is a go-getter; she is that. I get up early, and she knows I’m up working out and I’m ready to go get it,” Sanders said previously. “It’s a blessing, but we understand each other because we’re busy in our own right.”
