One of the many college football contests that took place on Saturday had to be cut short due to violence from a ton of players on both teams.
In the D-II Gulf Southern Conference, Delta State University visited Chowan University for a home opener of the 2023 season.
Delta State University was having no trouble as they held a 42-18 lead in the last half of the fourth quarter before things got ugly.
Delta State running back Tamaj Hoffman was shoved out of bounds following a long run but things got crazy as fists began to fly and a helmet could be seen used as a weapon.
“While both the visiting Statesmen and home-standing Hawks jostled with one another, grainy video from the game’s online broadcast appeared to show a player repeatedly striking another player with a helmet..” Football Scoop wrote.
The fight was so bad that the refs decided to call the game since it had already been determined anyway.

This is just wild behavior that is certainly going to have significant ramifications that lead to suspensions, possibly players getting kicked off the team, and just maybe assault charges for whomever was swinging a helmet.
