The Colorado Buffaloes have shared some unfortunate news regarding head coach Deion Sanders.
While Sanders has emerged as one of the most interesting personalities on the college football scene, fans will not get to hear him speak during the upcoming Pac-12 media days as he is set for a pair of surgeries this Thursday.
Defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will be the one who faces reporters instead.
“Following the success of his last procedure and upon the advice of his doctors, Coach Prime is scheduled for a subsequent, routine follow-up procedure on July 20,” the university noted in a release, via On3.
The statement adds:
“Unfortunately, his recovery will preclude him from attending Pac-12 media day, but he is fully expected to be back coaching in time for fall camp. Everyone at CU wishes Coach a fast recovery and we look forward to seeing him back on campus soon.
“Defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will represent CU at Pac-12 media day events along with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.”

Coach Prime already went under the knife a few weeks ago but is due for a couple of additional operations, though he is confident he will be ready to go by the beginning of the college football season.
