Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has discussed the possibility of star cornerback Travis Hunter returning to competitive action this weekend following the player rejoining his teammates in practice this week.
Hunter has missed three games since taking a nasty hit during the win against Colorado State that left him nursing a lacerated liver but could potentially be back in action when the Buffs face Stanford on Friday night.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Coach Prime declared that there’s a “tremendous chance” Travis features in their next game.
“There’s a tremendous chance he could play,” Sanders noted. It depends on how he looks, how he performs, his wind… he has to be in shape. I don’t want him to be a liability. I always want him to be a tremendous asset.”
Hunter has also been lining up as a wide receiver but it’s unclear as to whether he will play both ways given that he’s just getting back on the field, having missed around three weeks of action.
The way Deion describes him, he’s definitely playing if it’s left up to him and he likely wouldn’t have missed any games at all. But it will be interesting to see what happens on Friday.
