Deion Sanders has threatened to withhold NIL money from his Colorado players if they fail to maintain certain standards while at the university.
Sanders’ coaching career is filled with moments in which he’s heard expressing how much he cares for his players and how much he would like to groom men who succeed not only on the gridiron but as healthy contributors to society.
Coach Prime has always been straight-up with players, telling them that 90 percent of them won’t make it to the NFL and that they need an education to survive out there once they’re done with college.
As such, the former NFL superstar has made it clear that he won’t accept poor grades, and players who present them because they aren’t attending class will not receive their full checks.
“I don’t get involved in what you make, or whatever,” he was shown telling his team in a video that recently surfaced on X. “But when you stop going to class, now you’re affecting me. So we’re going to affect your check. When you stop going to class and I see a multitude of Fs and Ds, we’re going to affect your check. Do we understand that?”

Can Deion Sanders Legally Withhold NIL Money From Athletes?
Primetime also explained to the athletes that such behavior will affect their professional lives and potential NFL careers.
“When you stop doing certain things that you’re supposed to do, that you signed up to do, then you’re going to be affected,” added.
Last year, Sanders was shown tearing into his players after receiving bad reports on some of them from professors at the university.
In case you’re wondering whether Deion Sanders can actually keep money from athletes, it turns out he can. As explained by University of Miami adjunct professor Darren Heitner, schools can include clauses that reduce NIL income for poor academic performance.
