Deion Sanders has teased the re-release of his signature Nike sneakers by taking to social media to announce he’s returned to the sportswear giants.
The former NFL and MLB star signed a deal with Nike back in 1995 but became an ambassador for Under Armor following his retirement.
It appears Nike could be releasing his Nike Air Turf Diamond sneakers as the new Colorado head coach appeared on Instagram with a retro pair of the shoes, captioning the post, “We coming.”
Sanders represented the company both on the gridiron and on the diamond, sometimes on the same day. And his Air Turf sneakers remain one of the most iconic releases in history.
Following his move from Jackson State to Boulder, there was speculation over a return to Nike as Coach Prime helped get JSU an Under Armour deal but made a switch to a Nike-sponsored program. The Buffaloes’ relationship with the brand also started in 1995 and their current contract runs up until the end of the 2024 season.
Sanders wore an upgraded version of his retro shoes – the Nike Diamond Turf 96 – to Colorado’s Spring Game back in April, indicating a deal was close.
