Deion Sanders was the subject of “Saturday Night Live’s” Weekend Update, with longtime cast member Kenan Thompson characterizing the Colorado coach as legendary as he wore a white sweatshirt, hat, and “Coach Prime’s” signature sunglasses to complete the look.
The Buffaloes have become a story that has transcended college sports with every win and loss. Thompson and Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost poked fun at Sanders’ high-profile comments to bring attention to his program.
It seemed like light-hearted fun, but one member of the Sanders family had issues with it.
Shelomi Sanders, Deion’s daughter, thought the skit was funny, but she had to point out that they got some stuff incorrect.
“It was good,” Sanders told the Denver Post. “But then it’s like, okay, they’re kind of getting him wrong.”
“The way that they were saying stuff is kind of like, all he cares about is ‘the show,’ and stuff like that. That’s not him, though.”
“Yeah, it was funny, though.”

As for the skit, Thompson and Jost also poked fun at Colorado’s shocking 46-43 loss against Stanford on Friday night. The Buffaloes were up 29-0 before they blew the biggest halftime lead in college football over the past four years. It was the Cardinal’s largest comeback in history.
“Wasn’t that crazy?” Thompson said. “Man, we were up 29-0 at the half. So I went home and fell asleep. I woke up this morning as shocked as anyone.”
Colorado sits at 4-3 with five games left on the schedule and two wins needed for bowl eligibility.
The team has a lot of issues on defense and their offense can become stagnant at times. Another offseason should be able to fix all of these problems.
