‘Prime Time’ won’t be the only member of the Sanders football family taking their talents to Colorado.
On Saturday, Deion Sanders was officially announced as the new head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes following a successful three-year tenure with the Jackson State Tigers.
At his introductory conference, the Pro Football Hall of Famer indicated that his son, Shedeur, will also be the Buffaloes’ starting quarterback. Sanders noted, however, that Shedeur will “have to earn it.”
Shedeur had two successful seasons as Jackson State’s starting quarterback under his father’s guidance. In 2021, he completed 65.9 percent of pass attempts for 3,231 yards and 30 touchdowns against eight interceptions.
Sanders was even better in his second season with the Tigers, completing 70.2 percent of pass attempts for 3,383 yards and 36 touchdowns against six interceptions. He added 174 rushing yards and five rushing scores.
Prime Time also had the chance to coach son Shilo Sanders at Jackson State in 2021 and 2022. Shilo played his first two seasons of college football at South Carolina before transferring to Jackson State.
