There’s speculation across the college football world that Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders will leave Jackson State for Nebraska, but ‘Prime Time’ claims this isn’t the case.
Sanders is in third season with the Tigers, and they’re off to a perfect 9-0 start. So relax, Jackson State fans. Sanders isn’t going to leave the team that has enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under his leadership.
Erick Strickland of 93.7 The Ticket reached out to Sanders to ask if there was any truth to it.The two-time Super Bowl champion told Strickland that there’s “No truth to it, my brother.”
The Cornhuskers fired head coach Scott Frost after the team dropped two of its first three games. Nebraska named assistant coach Mickey Joseph Frost’s replacement for the season. The Cornhuskers are 3-6 heading into Saturday’s game against the heavily-favored Michigan Wolverines.
After a 1-3 start, the Cornhuskers rallied to win their next two games to get back to .500. But they have dropped their last three games, with the last being a 20-13 loss at home to the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Prime Time’s son, Shedeur Sanders, is the quarterback at Jackson State. Building off a strong 2021 season, Sanders has completed 72 percent of pass attempts for 2,664 yards, 27 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Sanders worked as an analyst on NFL Network for over a decade following his playing career. In 2020, he left the network and joined Barstool Sports. That same year, he completed his first year as the head coach of the Tigers, leading them to a 4-3 record.
Widely considered the greatest cornerback ever, Sanders won Super Bowls in back-to-back seasons, with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys in 1994 and 1995, respectively.
The 9-0 Tigers have two regular season games left. They’ll host Alabama A&M on Saturday before finishing up the campaign at Alcorn State on Nov. 19.
