Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has revealed when Travis Hunter could return.
Prime Time is looking forward to having Travis available again, but he also wants to err on the side of caution and is hoping the two-way star takes as much time away from football as possible following a scary injury sustained during the Buffs’ clash with Colorado State last month.
The cornerback, who also plays as a wide receiver, is dealing with a lacerated liver. And Sanders is hoping he could remain out until Colorado has its bye-week.
“Travis is doing well, he was out at practice today coaching his butt off, he’s one of the best coaches we have,” Sanders said during his press conference on Tuesday. “Travis is, I say a week or two, let’s say two or three. It would be my dream and desire for him stay out until after the bye-week. But I know Travis, he’s gonna see Shilo (Sanders), you may see several starters of that secondary (returning).
“But I would love him to be out until the bye, that gives him three extra weeks.”
Should that be the case, Hunter would remain away from on-field affairs until the Buffaloes play UCLA on October 28.
The program is coming off two straight losses against top-10 ranked sides Oregon and USC – Hunter’s absence over the two-game span hasn’t helped matters, while Shilo Sanders also missed their most recent fixture – but will hope to straighten their sails against the Arizona State Sun Devils this coming Saturday after nearly pulling off a comeback against the Trojans this past weekend.
