Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has provided an update on Travis Hunter following the two-way star’s recent injury woes.
Hunter sat out the second half of CU’s win over Arizona on Saturday but is expected to return against Cincinnati this week.
“Travis is better than last week,” Sanders told reporters, per ESPN. “I think he’ll have more productivity because he’s feeling much better than last week. As you could just tell with his little giddyup and the way he goes about life, a little more pep in his step today.“
The cornerback/wide receiver sustained a shoulder injury against Kansas State two weeks ago and was limited in practice ahead of Saturday’s game against Arizona. He played 41 snaps on offense and 13 on the defensive side of the ball.
Sanders decided to have him sit out the second half as a precautionary measure, considering that the Buffs were leading comfortably 28-7.

“I think he did some conditioning today for sure to make sure he’s on point with his conditioning because he never tires and we want to keep that what it is, but I think he will certainly contribute a lot more than he did a week ago because he’s healthier,” Coach Prime explained.
Travis Hunter’s Heisman Chase Is Back On
Hunter is likely keen on turning the Heisman chase back on after ranking No. 2 behind Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty in ESPN’s midseason watch last week.
The CU star has registered 51 catches for 604 yards and six touchdowns on offense so far this season, adding 18 tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble on defense.
The Buffs are heading into their next game with a 5-2 record and are hoping to clinch bowl eligibility in a full season for the second time since 2007.
