Deion Sanders came to Jackson State University three years ago to change the culture and the trajectory of their football team for the better. He racked up a 27-5 record and did everything he said he would in such a short amount of time.
He turned the squad into an undefeated team while at the same time shining a light on other HBCU football teams and athletics. Even that wasn’t good enough for the blowback he got once he announced he was leaving.
His recent departure to the University of Colorado has left many divided
A recent video is now circulating the web that apparently shows a student defacing a mural of Coach Prime while an onlooker throws obscenities toward Sanders.
The person in the video has since spoken out on Twitter.
“Please take this down. Y’all are spreading a false story. I was not defacing him. The hall director of that building wanted all drawings to come down not just his. That stuff was put up for homecoming back in October. And it was time for all of it to come down. Thank you.”

It’s been an insane couple of days for Sanders that started Saturday with a SWAC title win at Jackson State, which was promptly followed by him telling his players he had accepted the head coaching position at Colorado. He then flew to his new team and told them to hit the transfer portal because he was bringing his own luggage.
Sanders and the Tigers still have some business to take care of in next week’s Celebration Bowl before he officially leaves town.
