The trash talk between Colorado and Colorado State now includes the mother of Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.
Before his team’s 43-35 double-overtime victory over the Rams, Sanders addressed comments from Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell, but he wasn’t the only one who had something to say.
His mother, Connie, then took the mic in the locker room and said, “I raised him right. I also told him to always be yourself. If you have to kick (a), kick (a)!”
After Connie dropped the mic, the locker room went nuts.
Sanders was referencing criticism from Norvell when he said something about his attire leading up to the game.
“I sat down with ESPN today. And I don’t care if they hear it in Boulder. I told them, ‘I took my hat off, and I took my glasses off.’ And I said, ‘When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off.’ That’s what my mother taught me. They’re not going to like us no matter what we say or do. It doesn’t matter. So, let’s go up there and play.”

The trash talk dominated storylines and likely helped with ratings for what turned out to be a great game.
Colorado State was not intimidated by the undefeated team from the Pac-12. They led throughout the game. However, quarterback Shedeur Sanders took over in crunch time and directed a 98-yard touchdown drive in the final minutes.
He would then find Jimmy Horn Jr. for a 45-yard score and then connected with Michael Harrison for the two-point conversion to force overtime.
In the end, it was Sanders who was celebrating.
