NFL Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is going through an ordeal that has forced him to cancel an appearance this week.
It’s been revealed that the former pro cornerback could have his left foot amputated as he is still experiencing problems with circulation despite already having two toes removed.
Sanders allowed a camera crew into a meeting with his medical team at the Buffaloes facility this week, where they discussed the matter, with vascular surgeon Donald Jacobs warning the head coach of the risks, also pointing out he could lose his foot.
“You just have to understand what the risks are,” Jacobs said. “Things can cascade.”
“He could lose the foot,” he then said to Colorado athletic trainer Lauren Askevold.

Max Wohlauer, another vascular surgeon, explained that the blood pressure in the leg was only around two-thirds of the pressure in his arm, having previously measured the same, noting the arteries have shut down.
Should Sanders really need an amputation, he’d prefer getting it done before the start of the season. The two-time Super Bowl winner missed three games while at Jackson State last season due to complications.
“I want to do it this summer, because when we get rolling, I’m not going to have time to do it,” he said. “This is the best downtime I have.”
