Deion Sanders is set to lose another key member of his coaching staff ahead of his second term in charge of the Colorado Buffaloes.
According to ESPN, defensive coordinator Charles Kelly is leaving for Auburn.
Kelly has significant ties to the Tigers as he played there from 1986 to 1989. He led the Buffs defense amid their 4-8 season and fostered noticeable improvement on that side of the ball despite personnel changes.
Coach Prime had lots of praise for Kelly throughout the season but is reportedly happy to let him go.
Kelly was the associate DC at Alabama for four years before joining Prime in Boulder. He was also the safeties coach for the Crimson Tide prior to his move. The 56-year-old is likely to be appointed as a co-defensive coordinator at Auburn, with Ron Roberts the current DC.
Colorado will have new coordinators on both ends next season as offensive coordinator Sean Lewis left for the San Diego State head coaching job earlier this year.
