Deion Sanders was never a conventional player and far from being that as a head coach.
Apparently, the new Colorado coach got rid of an age-old football tradition and replaced it with something much more fitting
Sanders doesn’t have any captains on his team, so no players don the coveted “C” on their jerseys. He has flipped it completely as players are were seen with a “D” or an “L” where the captain patch would go. They were debuted Saturday during the team’s 45–42 upset win over TCU.
Sanders has named certain players to be “Dawgs” or “Leaders.”
“Deion Sanders doesn’t have the typical captain logo for his players at Colorado. Players wear L for Leader or D for dawg,” the text in the graphic said that was posted by Sanders’ Twitter account.
“I don’t believe in captains,” Sanders told Skip Bayless and Michael Irvin on Monday’s edition of “Undisputed.”

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who threw for a school-record 510 yards in his Colorado debut Saturday to lead the Buffaloes to a 45-42 upset of TCU, sported an L on his jersey to designate him as a “leader.”
Two-way star Travis Hunter, who shined at both receiver and cornerback, is designated a “dawg.” Hunter tallied well over 120 total snaps and had a team-high 11 receptions for 119 yards along with a crucial diving interception in the second half.
