After their verbal spats hyped their college football matchup Saturday night to an epic showdown, Colorado’s Deion Sanders had something to say about Jay Norvell.
After days of increasing hype, the Buffaloes and the Rams battled in a primetime classic at Folsom Field. Colorado ultimately prevailed in double overtime they erased an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter.
Norvell seemed to take a shot at Sanders, saying that he was taught to take off his hat and sunglasses when speaking to adults.
After Saturday night’s game, Sanders admitted what he was feeling about Norvell during the game.
“Truthfully, there was one point in the game where I said, ‘We can’t let this dude win. Ain’t no way we’re letting this dude win.’ His press conference is going to be unbearable if we let this dude win,’” Deion Sanders said at his press conference.
On postgame with Jay Norvell: “There was nothing meaningful. I know that Shedeur kind of got in-between, but no. I don’t hold any of that — I don’t have time for any of that. I’m on to bigger things.”

“I’m happy for the brother, I really am, and I’m happy that they thought they played a good game. I’m happy that he’s a head coach. I’m truly happy for any brother that’s doing it in a successful manner — I truly am. I don’t know where all of this stuff came from, but I have to respond. You aren’t going to just attack me and I’m gonna sit back and say nothing — but I’m happy for that dude.
“I mean, I don’t know him but I’m happy for him. I wish the best for him. My success doesn’t have anything to do with his, so why wouldn’t I want him to succeed? I don’t know how people get down like that. My blessings ain’t got nothing to do with his blessings.”
The game ended up being much closer than anyone expected, with Colorado State holding a late lead. Shedeur Sanders finished the outing 38-of-47 for 348 yards and four touchdowns through the air.
Coach Prime promised on several TV appearances Saturday morning he’d have something for the CSU head coach when they met on the field after the game. In the end, it was nothing as the two head coaches paid respect to one another after a hard-fought, double-overtime 43-35 win for the Buffaloes.
In the end, it seemed cooler heads prevailed.
