Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has been fielding some online criticism following a wild rumor.
A report from Athlon Sports cites a source who claims Coach Prime made it mandatory for all his players to attend a concert to support his son, Shedeur Sanders, who recently launched a rap career.
The report also claims Sanders threatened to kick players who didn’t show up off the team, forcing many of them to jump into the transfer portal.
“The Colorado Buffaloes had a huge weekend for the Spring Game at the end of April. It was a star-studded affair which included a concert with five-time Grammy Award winner Lil Wayne at CU Events Center. However, not all the details from Coach Prime’s major event were spectacular. According to CU player sources, Sanders made the concert mandatory for all his players and reportedly threatened to dismiss anyone who skipped out,” the report reads.
It adds:
“The Wayne concert was the final straw for a few players who hit the transfer portal,” a source told Athlon Sports. “When Coach Prime told us we all had to be there to support Shedeur as a rapper, they were not happy at all. To be honest, it was nothing but a huge distraction and Daddy Ball was being played.”
Understandably, this isn’t a great look for Primetime, and he’s getting dragged on social media.

“Whoever is going to make the Deion coaching documentary please make me a PA on the project. Thanks in advance,” an X/Twitter user wrote.
“This is the kind of thing that hurt Bo Callahan’s draft stock too; just replace concert with birthday,” another commented.
“Colorado is a dumpster fire, I said last year , I say it now. He’s out for himself and his children + Travis Hunter , that’s all. They’re cooked,” said a third.

Colorado Player Defends Deion Sanders
Buffaloes long snapper Camden Dempsey has since defended Deion Sanders, denying the players were forced to attend the concert.
“Yeah all I can say is this is 100% false- we were never “forced” to go to this concert,” he wrote in response to the report. “ We are a team that supports all of our players, but this is just crazy. Might want to find a better source Athlon Sports.”
In any case, Sanders badly needs a winning second season after the way things fell apart for him and the Buffs in 2023.
